Survey finds more settled employees

The Ohio Employee Confidence Index declined to its lowest level in October, decreasing 2.3 points to 36.5, according to the latest Spherion Employment Report.
But the report also found that fewer workers think they will be looking for new jobs in the next year.
The monthly survey conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of Spherion Corp., indicates that "although more workers believe the economy is getting weaker, fewer workers believe it is likely they will lose their jobs," Spherion said in a statement.
Some results from the report:
• Eighty-two percent of workers believe the economy is getting weaker, an increase of 13 points from September.
• Twelve percent of workers are not confident in the future of their current employer, representing a 12 point decrease from the previous month.
• Fewer workers reported that they are likely to look for new jobs in the next 12 months. Specifically, 25 percent of workers reported the likelihood of doing so versus 42 percent in September.
• Seven percent of workers believe it is likely they will lose their jobs in the next year, a decrease of 18 points from September.
"It is very important for employers to note the high levels of confidence being reported by Ohio workers," said Robert Schulte, Spherion Ohio franchise. "Interestingly enough, the workers surveyed for our latest ... report indicated that although they believe the economy is getting weaker, the majority do not believe their own jobs are in jeopardy.
