Home sales, prices fell in October

DAYTON — Sales of single-family homes fell 6.3 percent in October compared to the same period a year ago, according to the Dayton Area Board of Realtors.
The number of homes sold dropped to 881 last month from 940 during the year-ago period, according to a Nov. 21 news release from the board.
In the meantime, total sales for October declined 15 percent to $100.8 million from $119 million in the corresponding month in 2007. The average sale price for the month fell 9.6 percent to $114,412 from $126,640, the news release states.
Year to date, sales of single-family homes declined 16 percent to 9,604 units versus 11,440 during the same period during the previous year. The average sale price for the first 10 months of this year slipped 5.6 percent to $128,145 from $135,804 a year ago.
