MONROE — A small part of the access road leading to the new outlet center under construction off Ohio 63 has a new name.
A portion of W K Robinson Drive now will be known as Premium Outlets Drive to coincide with the infrastructure surrounding Cincinnati Premium Outlets.
Monroe City Council voted 6-0 to approve an ordinance at its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 11, to accept the property to be used as public right of way and known as Premium Outlets Drive in connection with the upscale development. Councilwoman Anna Hale was absent.
The property dedicated for public right of way to the city previously was owned by Corridor 75 Park Ltd., which sold the land to Chelsea Property Group, a division of Simon Property Group, to build the mall. Chelsea requested the street name be changed, said City Manager William Brock.
Site construction began in June for the Cincinnati Premium Outlets, a 400,000-square-foot center that will feature upscale shopping at 120 outlet stores. The project is scheduled to open in August or September, Brock said.
Several stores have signed leases or are in negotiations to move into the site, said Chelsea officials; however, the company has not released a list.
Thus far, Saks Fifth Avenue's Off 5th store is the only business to announce its plans to lease space at the mall.
The site will include a mix of designer groups similar to its other centers, said Michele Rothstein, the company's senior vice president of marketing.
The retail center is projected to generate more than $150 million in annual sales; 800 to 1,000 full- and part-time jobs with an annual payroll of more than $15 million; and property tax revenue of more than $900,000 per year, according to project documents.
